1) Is there a specific check in time? What do I do if I plan on arriving late?

Check in is at your own convenience at Kulaniapia. When you arrive at the property you will find a Welcome Board with your name and room location on it. Your room will have your name on it, and the key will be in the door waiting for you.

2) How long is the drive to the Inn from the Hilo airport? From Kona?

Kulaniapia is 20 minutes from the Hilo airport. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Kona to Hilo.

3) I did not receive a confirmation along with directions to the Inn?

Online booking companies like Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Priceline and B&B.com do not supply us with your email address. If you have booked with these companies, please print out directions you'll find on our website, www.waterfall.net

4) What time is check in? Check out?

Your room is guaranteed by 2:00 pm. Often it is ready earlier. You are welcome to come to the property as early as you like and either enjoy theproperty, or leave your belongings and go about your day. Check out is at 11:00 am, and as upon arrival, your welcome to enjoy the property on your day of departure, but housekeeping must have access to your room by 11:00 am

5) Can you always swim at the pond at the base of the waterfall?

The pond is swimmable approximately 95% of the time year round. When we have heavy rains, the water becomes too turbulent and swimming is not allowed. Always check with the Innkeeper on the day that you wish to swim to check the safety conditions

6) What's in the Bamboo Garden?

The Bamboo Garden is an easy 10 minute walk from the residence on a trail lined with Royal Palms and an assortment of rare an unusual Bamboo... most of which are labeled... some that soar over 100 ft above the powerful Waiau river. At the Bamboo garden you will find a large triple tiered waterfall and a large deck adjacent with comfortable seating and views of Kulaniapia Falls in the distance.

7) Are there any other charges other than the room rate?

Internet is Free... Parking is Free... Access to the waterfall and the Bamboo Garden is Free... .Breafast (an incredible one) is Free. The only additional charge is 4% excise tax and 8.25% room accommodation tax.

8) If I book online, how do I get the Kamaaina discount?

We charge a 50% deposit to hold your room for you, the balance to be paid upon arrival. For those that qualify for a Kamaaina discount (must have a valid Hawaii drivers license) we will apply that discount to the 2nd 50% payment.

9) Should I make my reservation online, or call the Inn?

Making your reservation online is seamless and secure. Your will receive a confirmation immediately notating the total cost, the days your booked, the balance due, and directions to the Inn. Or you are welcome to call us and we'll be happy to answer any of your questions and book your room for you. Whichever you prefer is fine with us.
