Your Innkeepers,
"Our greatest joy is to assist our guests in discovering the wonderful hidden spots that Hilo and the Big Island have to offer."
"We are very grateful for the opportunity to host visitors to the Big Island and extend to you our warmest Aloha."
Before moving to Hawaii, Jane and I had been living in St. Thomas, USVI where we chartered our 64 ft Sloop, Moonflyte, enjoying the azure waters of the Carribean and the boating life. We left the Virgin Islands in search of new horizons in 1988 and as luck would have it, we found a charming town on the Big Island of Hawaii called Hilo, and immediately fell in love..!! While looking for property, we were lucky enough to stumble onto this gorgeous 22 acre parcel in the midst of 2000 acres of Macadamia Nut trees, about 850 ft above sea level overlooking Hilo Town. We had been told there was a waterfall on the property and when we were able to clear the weeds and trees close to the ravine we came upon this120 ft waterfall that cascaded into a 300 ft wide pond at its base..!! We were so overwhelmed by the experience that we knew immediately this would be a property that we should share with others. We set to work immediately building trails to access the river and falls and worked on infrastructure to accommodate our future guests.
We opened our doors to greet our first guest in August of 1998 and feel very fortunate to have met so many wonderful people in the last 6 ½ years. During this time we have worked to improve our facility and to offer more amenities.
We are very pleased to announce that the 4 mile road that leads from Hilo Town to the Inn has recently been paved. Our location is very private and secluded where Hawaiian Hawk, Pigs, and Owls are a common sight, yet its an easy 15 minute drive to downtown, where some of the best restaurants on the Big Island can be found.
We are also excited about our new “Pagoda Guest House” that will be available on March 1. This is small private 3 story 1 ½ bath residence that would be comfortable for up to 6. Complete with kitchen, dining, laundry facilities, internet, and fireplace this Pagoda will embrace you with it oriental charm. Built on a cliff that overlooks Kulaniapia Falls, this vacation rental provides some of the most incredible views imaginable. From the 2nd story bedroom you can view the entire waterfall and pond. This will surely be one of the premier vacation spots in all of Hawaii.
