Kulaniapia is a large property of 22 acres that inlcudes two miles of walking trails and three distinctly different buildings that contain our guest rooms. There is staff on property to greet you and answer your questions from 7:00am to 11:am and from 2:00 pm to 6:00pm. If you arrive other than those hours, you are welcome to make yourselves at home and enjoy the property. You will find our Welcome Board at the covered bench by the Residence where you will find your name and your room location in either the Residence, Harmony, or the Pagoda Guest House. Children are welcome at both the Residence, and the Pagoda Guest House, However you must be at least 16 years old to stay at Harmony.
We offer a 10% Kamaaina discount if you have local ID on the day of check in.
Location - We are located in the midst of over 2000 acres of mature Macadamia Nut trees planted in 1984 by C. Brewer and Co. Only 15 minutes from downtown Hilo, yet Kulaniapia is a private, pristine, natural wonder nestled in the rain forest. Access to the Inn is via a 4 mile paved road, 2 miles of which is newly paved....however, please take note... we are Off the Beaten Path..!! There are no street lights along the road to Kulaniapia, but there is plenty of signage. You will need written directions to get to the Inn. You can find us with a gps by entering 1 Kulaniapia Dr. You can also find us with google earth, or with directions you will recieve with your reservation confirmation. You can also find directions on our website by printing out a brochure.
Check in / Check out - check in is any time after 2:00 pm and check out is by 11:00. You are welcome to enjoy the property on the day of your departure for as long as you like. you may store your belongings in foyer, but we must insist that you vacate your room by 11:00 am so that housekeeping can have access. There is no "late check out" allowed. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Deposit - Reservation deposits are required at the time of booking. Deposits are 50% of the anticipated room rate for the duration of your stay. We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express, travelers checks, and personal checks. Balance is due upon arrival. The tax in hawaii is 4% general excise, and 7.25% room accommodations tax. The total tax is 11.25% and will be added onto your room charge
Cancellation Policy - We have a two week cancellation policy. If you cancel within 14 days of your reservation, your deposit is refunded to you with no penalty. If you cancel less than 14 days prior to your reservation date, every effort will be made to re-rent your room for you, however if we do not succeed in renting your room, you will forfeit your deposit. If you cancel your reservation within 7 days of your stay, or are a no show, or depart early, you will be charged for the full amount of your stay.
Smoking - Hawaii State Law dictates that all public areas are designated as smoke free. Our rooms are non smoking rooms. Smoking is not allowed within 20 ft of any of our buildings. We are a large property however and smoking is allowed on the grounds. your discretion is appreciatied.
